The Holiday Inn Conference Center Edmonton South is accepting applications for the position of Full-time Housekeeping Supervisor.

Business Location: 4485 Gateway Boulevard N.W.

Position Scope:
Assists the Executive Housekeeper in managing the day to day housekeeping operations to include inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back of the house areas to meet or exceed the hotel’s high standard of cleanliness. The Housekeeping Supervisor must have people management skills and the ability to motivate the housekeeping team. Incumbent must have experience working with PMS systems, preferably Opera. Please note: This is primarily a hands-on position with some clerical/office duties.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assigns daily work tasks to employees using PMS system. Ie: Opens department/ break out

Closes the department using PMS system, Microsoft Office and email. Completes computerized reports.

Inspects the level of cleanliness in guest rooms, storage areas, laundry areas, restrooms, and public areas.

Assists in the on-going training of all housekeeping employees; assists with performance evaluations and communicating performance standards to employees.

Assists in the inventory of linen and cleaning supplies to ensure adequate supplies are available for the efficient operation of the department

Ensures the timely completion of the Housekeeping Department Reports and communicates clean and available rooms to the Guest Services Department.

Documents and communicates maintenance requests to the Maintenance Department

Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.

Assists the house-person and/or room attendants by helping to clean rooms or public areas. This will involve bending, stooping, lifting, repetitive motions and lifting of approximately 20 pounds.

Assists in scheduling staff to accommodate business volumes

Follows company policies and procedures and effectively communicates them to subordinates.

Conducts effective ongoing coaching and training of subordinates in safety, security, department procedures, and service guidelines.

Ensures hotel employees are in compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws, including Health and Safety and Human Rights.

Note: Other duties as assigned by management

Education/ Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in housekeeping or similar industry, to include supervisory experience.

Required Skills:
Computer Literacy with Microsoft Office programs: email, Excel and Word, Opera PMS or other PMS experience required

Ability to motivate, lead and direct others

Interpersonal communication skills to effectively work in a diverse environment.

Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, follow through and complete overlapping projects

Solid problem-solving skills

Working Conditions:
Will be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and shift work.

Typical shifts are from 10 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. and/or7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

Will be required to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

Will be exposed to and working with household chemicals.

Will require standing, walking, bending, lifting for up to 8 hours per day

Subordinates: Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants, Evening Attendant, Day Cleaners and Evening Cleaners
