The Holiday Inn Corpus Christi Downtown Marina, an AHG-managed property, is looking for the right, dynamic, results-oriented General Manager for our 345-guest room hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Corpus Christi, with picturesque view overlooking the beauty of Corpus Christi Bay and Marina. Our Corpus Christi hotel is across the street from the historic seawall and within an easy walk to local nightlife, restaurants, fishing, and more. Corpus Christi is home to the Texas State Aquarium, USS Lexington, Museum of Science and History, Whataburger Field and the American Bank Center.
The primary responsibility of the General Manager is to manage the daily operations of the hotel, with the ability to lead and execute the brand and company strategies. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of building and overseeing the Food and Beverage operations, Sales and Marketing, and HR policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience as General Manager of an IHG or similar nationally branded full-service hotel, preferably in the local market.
Leads and manages hotel operations
Approves hotel department budgets, defining and directing changes, as required. Facilitates the preparation of hotel budgets and forecasts for corporate submission and approvals.
Reviews forecasts. Directs hotel actions required to maximize profitability, increase service levels, and compliance with Hotel and Corporate policies and procedures and Brand Standards.
Oversees the Sales and Marketing activity and results. Leads and/or participates in sales and marketing strategy meetings. Participates in the efforts to secure business, as needed.
Leads executive committee/department heads to ensure overall profit, service, and team member satisfaction goals are met or exceeded.
Speaks with and responds to guests regarding service challenges.
Facilitates hotel meetings.
Hires, supervises, coaches, disciplines, and conducts performance evaluations for department heads and key personnel.
Develops the skills and abilities of direct reports.
Monitors high potential department heads and team member activity and ensures their growth within the company.
Corporate Communication and Owner Relations
Communication with hotel owners regarding results and aligning strategic plans for the future development of their hotel.
Communicates with a variety of corporate departments regarding implementing standards, procedures and policies. Provides feedback on companywide initiatives.
The General Manager reports to the VP of Operations.
The right candidate must have at least 3 years of GM experience in the hospitality industry and knowledge of hotel operations, sales and marketing, food and beverage, and HR. Proven ability to recruit, motivate and train a team of professionals. Candidates must have experience in the local or neighboring market, preferably with the IHG brand at a full-service hotel or similar background.
